    I realize you like tea and all, but why do people buy tea kettles?

    Saturday, August 20th, 2011

    It isn’t as if there aren’t twenty other ways for you to heat up water in your kitchen, why buy a utensil specifically for this? I understand buying a waffle maker, because you can’t make waffles without it. I understand buying a mixer, because it saves a lot of labor.

    "Is this only because a pan of boiling water can cause trouble when you’re cooking naked?" He says while rubbing ice on his belly for a totally unrelated reason.
    You only have one pot?

    If you equate all pots and pans as one "way, then tea kettle falls under that same heading.
    I could even use that waffle maker to make tea. George Foreman Grill? George Foreman tea maker you mean.

      ANOTHER ORIGINAL CREATION! Unfortunate that this song is so oddly misery-filled, ’cause it does not fit my mood at all on this most glorious of days. Anyway, here’s another song about the fictional character, Flinch, to fit with my previous song, Sir. He’s a horrifying yet somewhat inspiring character who emerges in times of panic. This song actually isn’t quite finished yet, because at the end there is supposed to be the ear-wrenchingly horrible sound of a screeching kettle, combined with roaring low notes, but as a mezzo soprano who does not own a kettle, i figured i might as well upload this now ’cause chances are I won’t finish it unless I suddenly become famous and billions of people want me to go out and buy a kettle. Enjoy!

        Can you read this paragraph please?

        Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

        I’m supposed to to write 10-15 sentences about the feeling of preparing and drinking hot chocolate on a cold winters day. It’s an adjective assignment. Please tell me if I should edit, add, or remove anything

        My legs felt heavy from exhaustion as I walked toward the loud whistling – almost irritating – sound of the kettle. Every step is a challenge, it’s as though if I make one mistake, the heavy weight will make me fall over. As I approach the sharp, now painful noise, I quickly reached for the outlet and pulled the plug that created the annoying sound. With relief, I grab the kettle and pour the boiling water into the prepared mug. The steam escaped almost immediately, and I watched it create vague images in the air that only I can see. I look down and see the hot water blend together with powder to create a warm, brown, sweetly scented treat. I reach to grab the mug, focused only on the chocolaty goodness that lies in it. I grab the mug without hesitation, and took my first sip. A sudden feel of a hot pain ran across the surface of my tongue, but other sensations soon followed. I tasted a great pleasure of a creamy, rich treat that was sweet in the right way. The marshmallows just added to the creamy taste, and they melted away more quickly than I can devour the drink. I slowly put down the empty mug after a short while of finishing it, and I stood there for a moment. I looked outside, and I saw the wind gently carry small snowflakes to other locations. I looked at the fireplace in my house, and saw the warm colours of the flames warm the air around it. And in that moment, I have never felt so content.

          How is it possible to boil 1 meter long spaghetti ???

          Thursday, April 14th, 2011

          I’m fascinated by the length of spaghetti on my plate so I bought as I measured 1 meter long Italian tricolore sphagettoni folded in two to make them fit better. Still they are very long and only about 1/6 fits into the kettle. So I was thinking if so long spaghetti exist, there must be a way to boil them. I pictured a slim and especially high kettle. Do they exist ? Or how are you supposed top handle them without breaking ??
          yes, it is known the part in boiling water will get softer and the whole skyscraper will sink, but this means each part of it will be of different readiness. One end overboiled, and the other underboiled… :/

          They should have folded their spaghetti in at least 4. Would have been easier. Are they trying to make an impression with visually so long ones on the buyer ?? :/ Well, they succeeded with me.

              Chemistry help – 10 points for first answer (partial answers are fine just do whatever you know)?

              Thursday, January 27th, 2011

              1. Tell whether it is a physical or chemical change. GIve reasons for your answer.
              (a) boiling water in a kettle
              (b) burning your asparagus while making supper
              (c) striking a match against sandpaper until it ignites
              (d) hanging wet towels on a rack until they dry
              (e) strokig a nail with a magnet until the nail becomes magnetic
              (f) dipping a silver spoon in egg until the spoon turns black
              (g) placing leaves in a compost box; by spring, a crumbly brown material replaces the leaves

              2. Pure hydrogen gas can be burned as a fuel, and oxygen gas supports burning. Yet when hydrogen and oxygen are combined in a chemical reaction, water, which can put out fires, is produced. Explain the change in properties.

              3.) Identify the reactants and products in the following chemical reactions, using their formulas (or names).
              (a) HgO(s) -> Hg(I) + O2(g)
              (b) KClO3(s)-> KCI(s) + O2(g)
              (c)Pb(NO3)2(aq) + Kl(aq) -> Pbl2(s) + KnO3(aq)
              (d) table sugar + oxygen -> carbon dioxide + water + energy

                I left a tea kettle on the stove for about 20 mins. Is it still safe to use?

                Saturday, December 18th, 2010

                Left a tea kettle boiling water on the electric stove by accident for about 20 mins. Is it still safe to use. I think it is stainless steel. It looks fine, and there was still a couple of cups of water in it boiling when I took it off. What do you guys think? No harm no foul? Or time for a new tea kettle? Looks fine, but I don’t know.
                Thanks Guys!

                Plug in tea kettle fails because?

                Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

                I have 1500Watt plug in kettle(for boiling water) This morning there was this strange odor in the kitchen and I could not boil any water. Thinking it was the wiring underneath I checked. Everything is fine and solidly connected and the temp. sensor points are not fried and are functional. The odor is closer to the 2 prong plug at the kettle. No smell at the wall plug.
                I do remember seeing a number of these plug wires at the local Sally-Ann. Are they problematic? Repairable or what? There is power(I hear the arcing) there at the kettle (sort of) as I unplug from the kettle and leave the other end in the wall. The prongs on the kettle are shiny and straight.
                Do I get another cord or what?
